Eyes Wide Open

I want to start off by thanking everyone for all the love and kind words about my blog. It means a lot to me. You have been encouraging and I am very excited to share with all of you what I have learned because we should not be kept in the dark about what is really going on in the food and cosmetics industry.

Health and beauty are synonymous with each other. You cannot have one without the other. The skin is the largest organ of our body and is a direct reflection of our internal health. Our skin holds the answers to issues that lie beneath the surface. If our diet is lacking, our skin will reveal it. 60 to 70 percent of what we apply to our skin is absorbed through our skin and into our bloodstream and liver and so we must also be aware of what we are putting on our skin. Once my eyes were open to all of this it completely changed the way I viewed food and beauty products. It sparked a fierce passion in me that led me down this path of organic and natural health and skin care. The way I eat today is a far departure from how I ate just a few months ago. What I use on my skin has taken a 360 degree change from my previous skin care routine. It is not an easy change to make but one that I had to do, not only for myself but most importantly for the well-being of my family.

Are you aware of what is really lining store shelves? You may be asking yourself why I care so much about what it is you are eating and what you like to use on your skin. It seems like such a trivial matter. If you really knew what you were putting into your mouth and what you were actually putting on your skin you would be angry too.

I should be able to choose what I put into my body. I should be the one to decide whether or not I want to feed my body food that contains toxins and GMOs (genetically modified organisms) and if I want to feed those things to my family. I should not be unaware of how these cell mutations affect my body and I have the right to know what foods contain these GMOs. I should be able to decide whether or not I want to feed my baby milk-based formula that has growth hormones and undetectable levels of arsenic in it. I should be told that if I decide to feed my baby soy formula that it has been known to cause cancer in infants and is equivalent to them taking five birth controls a day. The list goes on and on. It’s horrifying.

When we are kept in the dark we lose the ability to make those choices. Instead, those choices get made for us. We live in an age so advanced in medicine and technology yet disease and cancer are more prevalent than ever before. Why is that? It is a question that I have had for a long time but didn’t have the answer to. But I think I do now.

My goal is to make you aware about what is happening with our food, what is in our beauty products and how these things affect our bodies. I would also like to discuss healthy alternatives and basically everything under the sun of health and beauty. 🙂

Xo, K

  1. You are absolutely right! We all need to be made more aware of what we are consuming in our foods and our beauty products, and cleaning products too! Especially when there are so many natural, cheap, and healthy alternatives out there that are relatively easy to make at home.

  2. This is really cool Kris! I am looking forward to reading your posts. We’ve working hard to put the right foods in our bodies and have noticed huge change in my health! Lisa is always on me about the shampoo and soap I use that it’s bad for me, so maybe I better re-think that one. Take care. Hope to see you soon.
    Stan 😉

  3. I totally agree with you Kristine. Peoples eyes need to be opened to the truth about these things and I think it is wonderful that you are so passionate about doing that! I look forward to seeing more posts!

  4. I can’t wait to learn more and to try your products. We need to be more responsible for how we treat our bodies and do the best we can with what we know to lead healthier lives. Kudos to you Kristine!!
